Located in Westmoreland County, Longwood University's Baliles Center is a living, breathing outdoor classroom for educational events, research and other programs.

The Baliles Center provides the perfect setting for studying the environment and critical sustainability issues. The property features hundreds of acres of pine and hardwoods, natural and constructed wetlands, major tributaries feeding the Chesapeake Bay, an abundance of wildlife, and an advanced research facility.

Future at the Baliles Center

Additional facilities currently under construction, scheduled for completion in early summer 2024, include:

  • 2 student residential cottages (to house up to 12 students each)
  • 1 new faculty cottage
  • 2 renovated faculty cottages
  • 1 screened pavilion for teaching/meeting/event space
