Longwood earns $423,386 grant from U.S. Department of Education

Longwood University has received a $423,386 grant from the U.S. Department of Education to fund Project LINC (Learning in INclusive Classrooms) which will develop a portable and sustainable training curriculum to support new, part-time, and temporary foreign language instructors in inclusive classroom techniques.  Dr. Sally Scott, director of disability services, and Dr. Wade Edwards, associate professor of French, authored the grant proposal that was submitted under the category Demonstration Projects to Ensure Students with Disabilities Receive a Quality Higher Education. The project received full funding ($148,380) for the first of the three-year funding cycle with an anticipated total award of $423,386. Project LINC was among 23 projects funded nationally, and Longwood is the only institution in Virginia to receive the award.
