Longwood alumnus J.T. DiFiglio (Class of 2009) arrived in Farmville on August 11 with 27 cyclists participating in the Journey of Hope, a cross-country bicycle trek that began in Seattle, Wash. on June 10 and will end in Washington, D.C. on August 15.
The Journey of Hope covers 32 states, 12,000 miles, and is solely comprised of members of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. The event raises funds and awareness for people with disabilities. While in Farmville, the cyclists, representing college and universities across the U.S., spent time with individuals involved with Farmville's STEPS, a private, non-profit organization that provides job training for individuals with disabilities and welfare recipients.
DiFiglio, a crew member for the Journey of Hope team, served as historian for the journey, documenting the event and posting photos to online site.
