2009 News Releases
A New Year begins with "Move-in" at Longwood
August 26, 2009
Longwood University freshmen moved in Aug. 20, residents of the university-managed apartments moved in Aug. 21, and the rest of the upperclassmen moved in over the weekend of Aug. 22-23.
Student organizations that helped with move-in included the Movers & Shakers and Peer Mentors, as well as resident assistants and the desk staff in residence halls.
Also, for the second year, "hospitality tents," staffed by faculty and staff volunteers, provided assistance. There were two hospitality tents on campus, another at Longwood Landings, and one at the apartments Aug. 21.
The freshman class again exceeds 1,000 students, there are more than 180 transfer students - up 25 over last year - and returning student enrollments are coming in as projected. Fall semester classes began Aug. 24.
