Longwood’s Greenwood Library Celebrates National Library Week
March 24, 2009
Longwood's Greenwood Library will host an event to showcase its special collections on Thursday, April 9, at 3:30 p.m. The event will feature faculty, staff, and students reading excerpts from books and performing musical compositions that are among the holdings in Special Collections.
Those presenting the readings and performances include Patricia Cormier, Craig Challender, Marty Dorrill, Mary Carroll-Hackett, Lisa Kinzer, Lily Run Ren, Gordon Ring, John Sturtz, Lonnie Calhoun, and Longwood students Rachel Burchard, Emily Kilgore, and Ashley Lauer. Attendees will have an opportunity to win one of three Barnes and Noble gift cards, and refreshments will be available following the event.
Greenwood Library's Special Collections Room, located on the second floor of the library in Room 202, contains a variety of unique materials including faculty publications, rare books, a Virginia authors' collection, books related to Virginia including Longwood history and local history, and a collection of Alice in Wonderland books donated by the Droessler family. Materials housed in this area may not be checked out, but may be used in the Special Collections Room during specified hours.
