Storm Coverage: Farmville and Longwood University

Both Longwood University and the town of Farmville shared the news spotlight recently due to the severe weather that passed through our area on Wednesday, April 27, 2011.  Media outlets recognized the professionalism and rapid emergency communication by Longwood's first responders including the Longwood University Police Department and the Office of Environmental Health, Safety & Emergency Management.

Severe storms pass through Farmville
The feature photo on this site was taken by Longwood student Amelia Perry.  Amelia's photo was picked up by many news outlets and was also the lead-in on a national report by Brian Williams and the NBC Nightly News.  It is also featured on the front page of today's Farmville Herald.
