September 13, 2011
Longwood University ROTC Color Guard
Members of the Longwood and Farmville communities attended "Remembering 9/11/01," a remembrance ceremony and candlelight vigil on the lawn of Ruffner Hall on Sunday, September 11. Speakers included Longwood President Finnegan, Longwood Police Chief Bob Beach; Susan Stinson, lecturer in English; Brandon Frye '12; Bob Zupanek, Campus Catholic Minister, and other members of the Longwood community. Those attending were asked to quietly reflect on where they were on Sept. 11, 2001. First Lady Joan Finnegan presented a wreath in memory of the victims of 9/11. Following the event, the film MOOZ-lum was shown on Stubbs Lawn. Starring Danny Glover, the film is about the experiences of a Muslim-American college student after 9/11.
