Longwood University statement regarding Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity
November 2, 2011
In early September, Longwood University's Fraternity and Sorority Life office became aware of allegations of hazing within the Rho Kappa chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) men's fraternity. Fraternity and Sorority Life notified the Longwood University Police Department who opened an investigation into these allegations with the assistance of the Fraternity and Sorority Life office. At this time, the investigation has resulted in arrests against 16 members of TKE and others associated with the organization. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are forthcoming.
This work is the result of joint cooperation between the Longwood University Police Department and the Town of Farmville Police Department.
All activities of Longwood's TKE chapter have been suspended indefinitely pending the investigation of these charges. Those arrested will face judicial charges through Longwood's Honor and Judicial Programs.
