Kinman leads institute for science teachers
November 20, 2012
Dr. Ed Kinman
Dr. Ed Kinman, interim assistant dean of the Cook-Cole College of Arts and Sciences and associate professor of geography and earth sciences, recently led an NOAA and National Geographic-funded teacher institute at Stratford Hall in Westmoreland County on Oct. 26-28.
Nearly 40 science teachers participated in “Integrating Perspectives on the Chesapeake Bay through Civic Engagement: An Institute for Teachers,” which featured presentations and workshops led by Kinman, Longwood’s Dr. Joe Garcia, professor of geography and earth sciences, and other experts. The presentations spanned a range of disciplines and put effective teaching tools in the hands of teachers.
