Zach Wahls to speak at Longwood University
October 16, 2012
Zach Wahls
Marriage equality advocate Zach Wahls will speak at Longwood University at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, in Jarman Auditorium.
Wahls, the son of a lesbian couple, gained national attention in January 2011, when he delivered a heartfelt speech to the Iowa House Judiciary Committee. Speaking in opposition to a proposed marriage amendment to the Iowa state constitution, Wahls' testimony went viral, getting millions of views on YouTube.
Since then, Wahls has spoken at this year's Democratic National Convention and travels the country delivering his lecture, "What makes a family?" He also is writing a book on the subject.
Wahls' appearance at Longwood University is free and open to the public. For more information, call 434-395-2106, visit http://www.facebook.com/LULancerProductions or check Twitter at @lancerpro.
