    On November 14, Longwood’s Dr. Ray Brastow, associate professor of economics, was interviewed by radio host Jimmy Barrett on WRVA 1140 AM in Richmond regarding federal help for the economy.

  • Richmond Times-Dispatch: Longwood student wins chemistry scholarship (11/14)

    Longwood University junior Jeramie Stamps was featured in the “Around Campus” section, p. B-10, of the Nov. 12 Richmond Times-Dispatch about his selection as an American Chemical Society Scholar.  Stamps will receive a $5,000 renewable scholarship under the program for minority students who plan to pursue a chemistry career. Stamps, 24, a chemistry major who plans to pursue a career in forensic science, is from Ringgold in Pittsylvania County. The story can be accessed online.

  • Richmond Times-Dispatch: Fundraising keeps women's shelter open (11/13)

    A story about how Longwood students have helped to keep Madeline’s House open through recent fund-raising efforts appeared in the Richmond Times-Dispatch  (11.12.08) on p. 2 of the Metro section.  The story, “Fundraising keeps women’s shelter open,”  was written by Jamie Ruff.  Mary Carroll-Hackett, director of Longwood’s creative writing program was quoted in the story along with four of her students who led the campus fund-raising effort which resulted in $30,000 in donations to help keep Madeline’s House open.   • Longwood's Dr. Glenn Dardick quoted in a story in "SC Magazine—For IT Security Professionals" (11/6)

    Longwood’s Dr. Glenn Dardick, assistant professor of computer information management systems, is quoted in a story in SC Magazine—For IT Security Professionals, on an international research study that will soon be published in the International Journal of Liability and Scientific Inquiry.  Dr. Dardick, along with a team of researchers from the United Kingdom and Australia, analyzed data remaining on disks offered for sale in the second-hard market.  
    The SC story, titled “Few second-hand hard disks wiped clean,” was written by Angela Moscaritolo and can be accessed online.

  • Longwood student Greg Serwo featured in the Richmond Times-Dispatch (10/29)

    Longwood student Greg Serwo, a veteran who served with the United States Marine Corps in both Iraq and Afghanistan,  was featured in a story in today’s Richmond Times-Dispatch (10.29.08)  about a veterans support group he has helped to organize at Longwood University.  The story, “Veteran goes to school, creates support group,” was written by jamie Ruff and appears on p. B-2 of the Virginia/metro section of today’s RTD.

    Longwood’s Theresa Clark, associate professor of social work, was quoted in a story in Sunday’s Richmond Times-Dispatch (10.26.08).  The story, “Politics and Race—Election 2008,” was written by Olympia Meola and can be accessed online.

    Longwood University was featured in Sunday's School & College Guide published by the Richmond Times-Dispatch (10.12.08). The annual guide includes a profile of Longwood University along with admissions information in which Bob Chonko, dean of admissions is quoted;  photo and captions for the archaeology field school and Color Wars; and highlights of internships, student life, and sustainability (trayless dining).
