Richmond Times-Dispatch: Fundraising keeps women’s shelter open

A story about how Longwood students have helped to keep Madeline’s House open through recent fund-raising efforts appeared in the Richmond Times-Dispatch (11.12.08) on p. 2 of the Metro section. The story, “Fundraising keeps women’s shelter open,” was written by Jamie Ruff. Mary Carroll-Hackett, director of Longwood’s creative writing program was quoted in the story along with four of her students who led the campus fund-raising effort which resulted in $30,000 in donations to help keep Madeline’s House open.
