Joe Scarlett, chairman emeritus of Tractor Supply Company (TSC), the nation’s largest retail farm and ranch store chain, will be the Executive-in-Residence speaker Tuesday, March 3, at 7 p.m. in Hiner Auditorium. His topic will be "Ethics! Ethics! Ethics!" In his talk about ethical shortcomings in business and government, he will discuss why there is no substitute for high ethical standards and why "following the high road pays off in more ways than you can count."Scarlett, who lives in the Nashville area, held leadership positions with TSC from 1979 until retiring in 2007. He was CEO from 1993 to 2004, during which the company’s revenues quadrupled and the price of its stock increased 10-fold. He was the Southeast’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003 and chaired the Retail Industry Leaders Association for four years. In 2006 Scarlett and his family founded the Scarlett Leadership Institute at Belmont University.
