April 8, 2009
Sculptor Jonathan Hils will give an artist's talk Wednesday, April 8, at 6 p.m. in Bedford Auditorium on his piece Right Turn, which will be installed in the Brock Commons Outdoor Sculpture Program. The racecar-like sculpture of welded and painted steel, made in 2005, was exhibited along with Hils' work Innate, at the 21st Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Competition in 2007-08 at Appalachian State University, where Hils won the grand prize award. Right Turn will be placed next to Lankford Hall and will remain on view until spring 2011. Hils is associate professor of sculpture at the University of Oklahoma. The Brock Commons Outdoor Sculpture Program is sponsored by the LCVA and Facilities Management.
