Traditional Chinese musical performance to be presented at Longwood on Jan. 23
January 23, 2009
A traditional Chinese musical performance, in celebration of the Chinese New Year, will be presented Friday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. in Longwood University’s Wygal Auditorium.
The program will be presented by Dr. Emily Yap Chua, associate professor of music at Randolph College, and her family. Chua, a pianist who is an active performer in both solo and collaborative settings, will be accompanied by her father on erhu (two-string violin) and dizi (transverse flute), by her cousin on violin, and by two Randolph College students on piano and guzheng (zither-like string instrument).
The Chinese New Year – 2009 is the Year of the Ox – will begin Jan. 26.
