"Rivers in Demand," a multimedia presentation by Trip Jennings, one of the world's top expedition kayakers, will be given Wednesday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Hull Auditorium. Jennings is a photographer and adventurer for National Geographic, which named him an Adventurer of the Year for his work to help save the threatened ecosystems through which he has paddled. As part of the Rivers in Demand project, he has paddled first descents in Congo and Papua New Guinea, as well as a last descent in China. A program about his Congo River expedition last summer aired Feb. 10 on the National Geographic Channel. The Longwood event, which is free and open to anyone, will include "harrowing tales of being chased by crocodiles, pinned down by rebels, paddling huge whitewater and lessons brought back from the edge of the world." It is sponsored by the Longwood Outdoor Club. For more information, visit riversindemand.com or email david.wright@live.longwood.edu.
