Dr. Amy Eichhorn-Mulligan, assistant professor of English at the University of Memphis, will speak Friday, March 20, at 7 p.m. in Hiner Auditorium on "Women, Power and Sovereignty in Medieval Ireland." Eichhorn-Mulligan has a doctorate in medieval languages and literatures, with a focus on medieval Britain, Ireland and Scandinavia, from Oxford University, and she has been published in Speculum, Cambrian Medieval Celtic Studies, and Journal of English and Germanic Philology (forthcoming). The lecture, to be followed by a reception, is part of Longwood's 2008-09 Medieval Irish History and Archaeology Lecture Series. It is sponsored by the Department of English and Modern Languages, and Women's Studies, in coordination with East Carolina and Appalachian State universities.
