The Big Event, a nationwide community service effort among colleges in which Longwood is participating for the first time, will be held Saturday, March 28. The Big Event, which started in 1982 at Texas A&M University, provides an opportunity for college students to express their gratitude to the surrounding community. The event will begin at 9 a.m. and end with remarks by Longwood President Patricia Cormier about 2 p.m. on Lankford Mall. Longwood's participation, which will include projects at about a dozen sites, is sponsored by the Student Government Association, and Josh Rolfe and Holly Cooney are the main coordinators.
