FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Where can I obtain a state application?

You can obtain a state application at any Virginia Employment Commission office, or via the internet at http://jobs.state.va.us/eo-appli.htmState applications are also available on the Longwood campus in the Lancaster building, room 335 and outside of our suite where all vacancies are posted.

2.  Do I have to submit a separate application for every position?

Yes, but we suggest that you maintain an electronic or hard copy and submit an original signature for each position applied for. For best results, please submit an original application outlining knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, etc. as requested in each vacancy announcement.

3. Why didn't I get an interview or why wasn't I offered the position?

We receive numerous applications for each position. All applicants are considered. Much screening and interviewing takes place both in Human Resources and in the hiring department to ensure the best candidate is selected.

4. Where are jobs advertised?

Classified (full-time state) positions are advertised through the State of Virginia on line system, Recruit, and locally, in the Farmville Herald, as well as on our website at www.longwood.edu/HR/EMSvacancies.htm, at a minimum. Wage (part-time) vacancies are advertised in the local paper, The Farmville Herald. Instructional Faculty and Administrative and Professional faculty positions are advertised in discipline-specific journals, on-line listings, and on www.HigherEdJobs.com.

5.  How do I find the Human Resources Office?
Human Resources is located in Lancaster 335.  Visitors may park in the visitor lot next to the Craft House (Admissions).  Click here for a campus map.

6. Do you maintain applications on file for future openings?

No.  Interested persons should apply when a vacancy is posted.
