PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT CONSULTING

Performance Management Consulting

Training and Development division provides direct counseling and coaching to managers regarding the State’s performance processes and documents, as well as general skill-development in discussing negative and positive performance with employees.

 

New Classified Employees   |   Existing Classified Employees   |   New A/P Employees   |   Existing A/P Employees 

 

 

 

 

General Process for Classified Employees

 

New Classified Employee

1.      Set 12-month goals using the Employee Work Profile (EWP) form within 30 days of start date.

2.      Optional Interim Evaluation after three months or at any other interim time

3.      Probationary period is for new classified employees (not including state-transferred employees who have successfully completed a previous classified 12-month probationary period).  If probationary period applies, complete a 6-month Probationary Review form and a 12-month Probationary Review form.

4.      Set new 12-month/annual goals using the Employee Work Profile (EWP) form after the probationary period ends.

5.      Evaluate performance of annual goals using the Employee Work Profile (EWP) form, evaluative portion, on the next October 10th (exceptions apply when the 12-month probation review occurred less than 60 days prior to October 10th).

6.      Update and/or set new annual goals after each October 10th evaluation, due by October 31st.

7.      If role/duties change mid-year, the Employee Work Profile (EWP) form should be updated and resubmitted.  Highlight the changes unless all or most of the information is new.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Managers and employees should retain copies of all documents.  All original documents must be submitted to the Longwood University Human Resources Department.  Electronic submission is acceptable if the document does not contain signatures. 

 

Existing Classified Employee

1.      Set 12-month goals using the Employee Work Profile (EWP) form every October 31st .    

2.      Optional Interim Evaluation after three months or at any other interim time.

3.      Evaluate performance of annual goals using the Employee Work Profile (EWP) form, evaluative portion, on the next October 10th .

4.      If role/duties change mid-year, the Employee Work Profile (EWP) form should be updated and resubmitted.  Highlight the changes unless all or most of the information is new. 

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Managers and employees should retain copies of all documents.  All original documents must be submitted to the Longwood University Human Resources Department.  Electronic submission is acceptable if the document does not contain signatures.

  

General Process for AP Employees

 

New AP Employees

1.      Set 12-month goals using the Administrative and Professional Faculty Performance Management and Development Plan form within 30 days of start date.

2.      Evaluate after 90 days using the same form mentioned in step one.

3.      Evaluate on the next April 30th using the same form mentioned in steps above (exceptions apply when the 90-day evaluation occurred less than 90 days prior April 30th).

4.      Update and/or set new 12-month/annual goals using the Administrative and Professional Faculty Performance Management and Development Plan form within 10 days of April 30th.

5.      If role/duties change mid-year, the Administrative and Professional Faculty Performance Management and Development Plan form should be updated and resubmitted.  Highlight the changes unless all or most of the information is new.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Managers and employees should retain copies of all documents. All original documents must be submitted to the Longwood University Human Resources Department.  Electronic submission is acceptable if the document does not contain signatures.

 

Existing AP Employees

1.      Set 12-month goals using the Administrative and Professional Faculty Performance Management and Development Plan form by every May 10th.

2.      Evaluate every April 30th using the form mentioned above.

3.   If role/duties change mid-year, the Administrative and Professional Faculty Performance Management and Development Plan form should be updated and resubmitted.  Highlight the changes unless all or most of the information is new.
