How can I share my idea/comment/complaint with someone at Campus Recreation?

We would love to hear your feedback! Please fill out a comment/suggestion card located in the lobby by the elevator, ask to speak with an administrator, or send us an email campusrec@longwood.edu

What if I forgot my ID?

As required to gain access to most places on campus, you must present a valid Longwood University ID Card or Campus Recreation membership ID to enter the facility. If you forgot your ID, you may purchase a guest pass with a valid photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport and someone to sponsor you.  If you’ve lost your I.D. please visit the I.D. office located in Lancaster G22A to get a new one.

Are guest(s)/children allowed in the facility?

Non-members at least 18 years of age may purchase a guest pass for the day to enter the Health & Fitness Center under the following condition:

·  Each guest over 16 years of age will receive an Equipment Check Out Pass in exchange for a valid state issued ID. Upon exiting the facility you must return the pass in exchange for your ID.

·   Campus Recreation reserves the right to terminate guest privileges for failure to abide by set policies/procedures or misuse of facilities/equipment.

For safety reasons, no one younger than of five years of age is permitted to become a member or purchase a day (guest) pass.  However, children five years of age and older are allowed to enter the building under the following conditions:

Can I bring a drink in with me while using Campus Recreation facilities?

Soft drinks, sports drinks, etc. are not allowed past the entrance gate due to the sugar content of these drinks,

which can cause maintenance issues if spilled on the machines. However, water is allowed and should be kept in a clear, non-breakable, plastic, leak proof drinking container. Glass containers/bottles are strictly prohibited.

Where can/should I store my things at the facility while I work out?

Day use lockers are available for members to use while working out. Locks can be brought in or checked out for free at the Front Desk or Equipment Room. All locks remaining on day use lockers at the end of the day will be cut off and items left in lockers will be disposed of. Campus Recreation is not responsible for items left unattended in our facilities.

How do I reserve a racquetball court?

Reservations are highly recommended, so please call our Front Desk at 434-395-2488 to reserve a time.  Reservations may be made be made 24 hours in advance and you may only schedule a one hour time slot per day.  Failing to show after 10 minutes allows anyone to take the court.

Why can I not wear a tank top in the weight room?

For hygiene purposes and to prolong the life of the equipment in the Health & Fitness Center weight room, shirts must fully cover all areas of the upper torso with the exception of the arms. For this reason no sports bras, tank tops, shirts that have been altered, or expose the midriff are allowed in this area.

All other areas of the Health & Fitness Center may wear tank tops or shirts with the arms cut off, but may not wear sports bras and midriffs must be covered at all times.
