Study Changes in Business Operations at the École Atlantique in Nantes, France

OPEN TO ALL MAJORS

May 17 - June 1, 2008  

Pornic by night

Learn firsthand about business practices in France and the European Union
while immersing yourself in a major European economic center.

Spend 2 weeks at the École Atlantique, studying business operations from an international perspective (especially in the European Union).  Your accompanying professor will be Dr. Roy Creasey.

 

  • Management 295, International Business Operations (Non-Business and Pre-Business Majors) (3 credits)
  • Management 495, Global Business Operations (Business Majors) (3 credits)
  • Visits to international companies conducting operations in France
  • Visits and excursions to sites of cultural or historic significance
  • Homestay with French family
  • 3 meals per day (breakfast and dinner with host family; lunch in cafeteria)
  • Round-trip airfare Richmond to Paris, train Paris-Nantes
  • Two nights in Paris
  • Longwood University transcript

·         This program satisfies Longwood University's Goal 9 (as an "approved international experience")

 

Approximate program cost of $2,450 includes all of the above.
Tuition is not included in the above cost.  In-state tuition for 3 credits is approximately $425.
*Program price is approximate; it may change due to currency fluctuations, airfare price changes, etc., but is not expected to change drastically. Does not include other costs (such as passport fees) or money for personal spending.

Application and $400 deposit due November  30, 2007

Typical daily schedule during the program:  (This schedule may be adjusted as needed.)
7:30 am  breakfast with host families
9:00 – 12:30 classes and activities
12:30-1:30 lunch in cafeteria
1:30-5:00 classes, activities, site visits

6:00 dinner with host families
7:30-9:30  discussions; homework; some evening activities (movies, etc.)

Course Descriptions and Credits

Attendance and participation in all classes and activities is required.

Management 295.  International Business Operations.  This course focuses on the international dimensions of business operations.  Students will develop a framework for formulating operations strategies in an increasingly complex world economy, and will learn how to effectively integrate multiple strategies.  Prerequisite:  Permission of Instructor.  3 credits.

Management 495.  Global Business Operations.  A study of successful and unsuccessful business operation practices in the global marketplace.  Students will develop a framework for formulating operations strategies in an increasingly complex world economy, learn how to effectively integrate multiple strategies, and how to apply those strategies in analysis of case studies.    Prerequisite:  MANG 360 and Permission of Instructor.  3 credits.
