Spend 3 weeks with a teacher in Limerick, Ireland, helping with all the duties your teacher carries out each day.  Your duties will include helping to provide small-group instruction or testing, creating bulletin boards, grading papers, attending parent-teacher meetings and faculty meetings, and more.  The program will include weekend visits to nearby historical sites, islands, and other attractions. 

                     

Program price of $2,700* includes airfare, phone card, lodging, meals, activities, excursions, medical insurance.  Tuition and Practicum fee for 3 credits is an additional approximately $700 (Virginia Residents).

*Program price is approximate; it may change due to currency fluctuations, airfare price changes, etc., but is not expected to change drastically.

$400 deposit due to Office of Cashiering, Lancaster.

February, March, April:

Further payment deadlines and mandatory meetings will be announced.

Important Payment Information:  use the Study Abroad Program Payment form, and please write the Account number in the space provided.  Irland Practicum Account: 81141. The Office of Cashiering will not accept payment without the official form and account number filled in. You will receive the pink copy as your receipt.

 

Tentative Itinerary 2008:



 

May 09:  Meet at Richmond International Airport*
May 10:  Arrive in Ireland; Bus/ Van to University of Limerick; Adventure begins. 

                Tour Limerick, St. John’s Castle
May 11:   The country side of Ireland/ “Ring of Kerry”

May 12:  Practicum begins:  Orientation meeting, 9:00 AM University of Limerick 
May 14:   Dinner meeting 5:00 – 8:00 PM ,TBA
May 16:   Dinner meeting/plans for weekend: Trip to Castle
May 17:   Night in a Castle!
May 18:   Return to Limerick. 
May 20:   Dinner meeting 5:00 – 8:00 PM ,TBA  

May 23:  Aran Islands; Explore the islands
May 30:   Farewell Dinner
May 31:   Flight to U.S.  Arrival at Richmond International Airport*

         *Flight times will be announced later.

(There are two $500 scholarships available for summer group program participants.  Deadline for applications:  March 15)
