ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED ONLINE.

Please note that under the Immigration Rules, an applicant for an entry clearance must be outside the United Kingdom at the time of the application and therefore we cannot accept applications sent from the UK.

Apply using the online system and UPS. We will return your documents to you using UPS overnight delivery, normally within 5 working days. We will update you by e-mail at each stage of the process and inform you of the dispatch date and UPS tracking number.

Mailing your application:

UPS will not deliver to P.O. Box numbers and a regular mailing address is required for the return of your documents.

Paying for your application:

Inside the USA: Pay online with a Visa or MasterCard credit card.

If you apply by mail you can send a certified cheque or money order made payable in US$ to:

  • Chicago:        The British Embassy Government Account
  • New York:      The British Consulate-General, New York
  • Los Angeles:   The British Consulate-General, Los Angeles

Outside the USA: If you are applying by mail from the Bahamas, Bermuda, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama & Nicaragua and do not have a major credit card you should send an international draft with a US clearing bank made payable in US$. Applications containing personal or company cheques will be returned.

UKvisas and visa issuing posts provide comprehensive information on what supporting documentation applicants should provide with their visa application. The onus is on the applicant to demonstrate to an Entry Clearance Officer that they meet the requirements of the Immigration Rules. Decisions are made based on the supporting documents submitted and on the information provided in the application form, which the applicant declares to be true.

Visa4UK will select which Consulate you should apply to based on the state you live in. Your application will not be accepted at any other visa issuing post than the one you are directed to. Failure to submit your documents to the correct visa issuing post will result in a delay to the processing of your application.
