This course satisfies the General Education goals listed above.  Participation in this program waives General Education Goal 9.

Students must enroll in the following:

English 400 (3 credits):
This course develops rhetorical skills needed for citizenship in a democracy. Includes interdisciplinary inquiry into and analysis of at least one significant public issue across all sections.

- and -

French 201 (3 credits):
A course designed to help students develop skills in speaking, listening comprehension, reading, and writing in French, and apply these skills in a context that recognizes and explores the particularities of French and Francophone culture. Prerequisite: FREN 102 or FREN 105 an appropriate placement test score.

- or -

French 202 (3 credits):
Students will continue to develop the skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing at a higher level, integrating a wide variety of topics and materials from the target culture. Prerequisite: FREN 201 or appropriate placement test score. Successful completion of this course satisfies the foreign language requirement for the B.A. degree and is prerequisite for upper-level courses.

 

Take a summer off from your ordinary beach trip and travel to France and visit the port city of La Rochelle.  Dr. Wade Edwards and Dr. Heather Edwards will be conducting a section of English 400 with a French twist.

Trip Requirements:

  • College Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
  • Must have completed beginner French
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5

Highlights include:

  • Cognac
  • Paris
  • Castle excursion

The tentative cost of the program is $3,600.00.  This price will cover airfare, lodging, excursions, and meals.  The French 201 or 202 course tuition cost is also included. 
Tuition for English 400 class is not included in the above cost.   

Tuition Rates for Summer 2010

In-State: $190.30 per credit hour
Out of State: $477.40 per credit hour
