Policies & Procedures

Every project has a significant impact on Longwood University and its resources. For that reason, the University has established an internal approval process. Approval may involve several offices across campus, so please allow sufficient time for inquiry, review, feedback, and sign-off.

Any faculty member intending to apply for a grant or contract should meet with the department chair and dean to discuss the proposed project. Upon approval to proceed with the application, the faculty member should notify the Grant Office (Marica Monroe, Lancaster 217D, x2639) of the intent to seek support. This will help the University avoid duplication. Someone else at the University may have already submitted a similar project proposal to one of your potential funders.

The Grant Office will need the following information in writing:

  • the name of the project
  • names of potential funders
  • the anticipated grant amount

The Grant Office will forward this information to the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
