The Power of One
One gift from one loyal supporter once a year has the power to propel Longwood forward. Longwood is already an institution in a league of it's own and the support of alumni, family, and friends help us keep pace with the growing needs of the university.
The Longwood Fund is the university's only unrestricted account that provides aid to areas of most critical need. It supports all of the elements that are needed to provide the Longwood Experience to all students.
Here are just a few real-life examples of how the Longwood Fund has impacted our students...in more ways than one.
1) Ensuring Experience
- Provided funding for two Honor students and faculty members to attend a conference where the students presented honor research papers.
2) Defining Discovery
- Provided support for the Sustainability Conference.
- Provided support for the French Film Festival.
3) Optimizing Opportunity
Assisted a student athlete with classes needed to be able to retain scholarship.
Provided 26 students with scholarships to study in various countries around the world.
4) Increasing Involvement
- Enriched the lives of students by supporting the Sankofa program by presenting a forum to discuss diverse ideas within the field of education.
"Longwood may be a small school in a small town...but students here are going to do big things." Jennifer Grelson, Criminal Justice, Class of 2011
Each fall and spring, student callers contact alumni, friends, and family to ask for their financial support of the university.
The callers love sharing stories of Longwood's past, present, and future, while gaining valuable work experience and raising necessary funding for the university. Learn more about Lancer Line.
"Through your contribution, you inspire students to lead and serve on Longwood's campus, their local communities, and our nation." Benjamin Brittain, Student Body President
