Lancer Line
Lancer Line Caller
Every year, student callers at Lancer Line make thousands of phone calls to parents, alumni, and friends.
These students not only take on the important task of raising crucial funds for our school, but they also make sure our family knows all of the campus updates (like the fact that we have a new Einstein Brothers Bagels in our café, or that a new alumni center is being planned, or even that the students still have those personal relationships with faculty and staff our alumni know so well).
Last year alone, 60 students contacted 12,000 friends, raising over $400,000 for our University. This money went to scholarships, colleges and departments, athletics, and more.
What alumni are saying
“The students that have called me have always been so "upbeat" and excited about what they are doing for Longwood. It is good to know that they are excited about Longwood and the education they are receiving. When I was recovering from surgery the student wished me well and a speedy recovery--sure did make me feel good.”
“I like to be solicited for funds by the student callers so I can discuss current campus trends with current students. I, too, was a student caller!”
“I think that the experience of students calling alumni is invaluable to the connection between different generations joined by a common thread. More important than the alumni hearing from the students, I think it is beneficial to the current students. It is important to hear what the people who came before them have to say.”
