Corinne is a current communications studies major with a concentration in public relations, and a minor in criminal justice. After graduation in May, she hopes to land a job in a public relations department for a sports team. “After taking a public speaking class my sophomore year, I knew communication studies was the best major for me because of my comfort with speaking in front of the class and joy of learning the curriculum.” Corinne is interested in working alongside a football, hockey, or baseball team to best represent their image to their fans and the public. After interning this past summer as a Washington Nationals Communications Intern, she realized that she loved media monitoring for the team, working alongside the department to create blog posts, and strengthening relations with media outlets nearby. Her dream job would be somewhere in the D.C. area, but she would also be open to traveling/working somewhere else along or near the east coast.
Along with being dedicated to her studies, Corinne holds many different leadership roles on campus. She serves as a Senator on the Student Government Association, the Vice President of Programming and Ritual for her sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha-Alpha Chapter, and as the Treasurer for Operation Smile. Corinne has also served as a Peer Mentor on campus. “My time at Longwood has been outstanding. In regards to preparing for a career, my professors have done a tremendous job at pointing me in the right direction and assisting me with opportunities that allow me to grow as an individual and a professional. The Career Services Office has also assisted me with strengthening my resume, cover letter writing skills, and by providing career fairs and mock interview opportunities.”
