On this episode “Resilience” two Longwood alumni started out on a path in life and had an event take place that truly altered their lives. But that didn't stop them, both turned their very tragic personal experiences into an opportunity to make the world a better place.
Katie Punam '11 had no idea she’d be doing the day after her graduation day. It all started with the birth of her daughter, Audrey. She didn’t have any experience starting a non-profit. Didn’t have any experience raising funding. But dived in anyways and the Eliza Hope Therapy Center was born.
Candice Parsley '12 enrolled in the teaching program and soon found her calling as a math teacher after some guidance from our faculty here. She loved it and was excited to get into the schools after her senior year. But she started feeling sick her senior year. Finding a way to combine her love of rodeo and her experience of going through cancer, Cowgirls for a Cure was born.
