Welcome to Virtual Alumni Weekend, where we celebrate lifelong friendships and a connection to the alma mater that spans generations. This year, though we are virtual, I hope you will feel an even deeper connection to Longwood as we look forward to coming years when we can be in person again.
There are many wonderful opportunities this weekend to participate—whether you are lacing up your running shoes or testing your Longwood knowledge with other trivia buffs. Have fun, connect with each other, and together let’s make the spirit of Longwood shine brighter than ever before. I hope you will enjoy our celebration of you and this great institution and that you will visit our beautiful campus in person sometime soon.
Relive the fashions, hairstyles, and hijinks of your college years. Remember favorite faculty and winning teams. See who lived up to their senior superlatives and marvel at the path you’ve taken since you graduated.
Lace up your sneakers and walk, run, jog, or roll with your fellow Lancers during the second annual #LongwoodTogether Virtual 5K & Mile Race! Race entry is free for all Longwood alumni, students, faculty and staff. It’s easy to participate, and you can register anytime throughout the weekend.
If so, it's time to stretch! Here is all you need to do:
Tune in to see this year’s recipients as the Alumni Association Board of Directors uses this time to recognize the diverse talents, contributions, and accomplishments of Longwood alumni.
Does 1997 seem like yesterday? Do you still have a pair of petal pushers tucked away in a closet? Will Blackwell always be the true dining hall?
Come together to test your knowledge, both general and Longwood-specific, during this year’s trivia contest! Featuring questions from each decade, it’s not just how well you know your own time on campus, but how well do you remember everyone else’s?
Grab a crimping iron, make a Jello mold, pour yourself a Baja Blast, and join the game on Facebook!
Join Louise Waller, vice president for administration and finance, as she takes attendees on a virtual tour of campus, detailing newly-opened buildings like Allen Hall and Upchurch University Center, as well as introducing exciting plans for future construction, including the highly-anticipated Joan Perry Brock Center.
Join the Class of 1971 Reunion Committee as they celebrate their fiftieth reunion by reminiscing and reflecting on the moments that made Longwood home all those years ago.
Go Green Class or Full-ahead Red? Regardless of who you’re throwing for, get ready to sling some virtual paint! Join us at 3pm on our Facebook page for Color Wars: Facebook style!
Join Brittany Wood Snyder ‘06 (@charcuterieboardsbybritt) and learn all the tricks and tips to create a picture-worthy Longwood-themed charcuterie board! After you have built your own snack board, Brittany is going to turn it over to Scott Smith ‘05, co-owner of Outer Banks Distilling for a behind-the-scenes tour of their facility…bonus, he’s teaching everyone how to make his favorite cocktail!
Join Josh Blakely, Longwood’s director of Brock Experiences, for a short memorial and moment of silence in honor of all that we have lost this past year.
... and a gift to Longwood is a powerful way for you to honor this place and the people who inspired you. Your gift to Longwood University ensures our students continue to have access to the same transformative experiences as you did. Thank you!
