Scholarships

The best source of information on scholarships for prospective students is the Office of Financial Aid.

The Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice Studies Department recognizes the accomplishments of matriculated students through these three scholarships.

The Kathleen Goodwin Cover Award
The Kathleen Goodwin Cover Sociology Award is given for academic excellence.  This award is named after Professor Kathleen Goodwin Cover who taught at Longwood for 30 years and was the first Chair of the Department.

The Diane M. Sheffield Award
The Diane M. Sheffield Memorial Scholarship was established in honor of Diane M. Sheffield, the mother of one of the Department's students, Mike Sheffield.  This award is given to a sophomore or junior who has given evidence of strong scholarship and commitment to the University and the Department.

The Outstanding Graduating Senior Award
Awards for Outstanding Senior are given to individuals in the Department based on their academic prowess and extracurricular contributions.

Most of the scholarship and grant support available for new students is handled centrally through the Longwood University Office of Financial Aid and new students should see their homepage for detailed information.
