GREGORY L. BOWMAN, '90, has been named the American Bar Association’s (ABA) 1999-2000 Outstanding Young Military Service Attorney for the United States Army. This prestigious award, presented each year to one military attorney from each of the Armed Forces, recognizes outstanding career achievement in legal services, military leadership, legal scholarship and community service. Captain Bowman is currently serving as a Judge Advocate in the Military Administrative Law Division of the Headquarters of the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Fort Monroe, Virginia. He is part of a team of individuals responsible for providing grant money given by Congress to State and Local Agencies, which, in turn, research/study areas of law enforcement, and technolgy to improve the criminal justice field. DENISE JAMES HOLLAND, '97, is currently the men's health program manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. Her 2003 Men's Health Preventive Care program recently won a Best in Blue award from the National Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association for Innovation in Quality Improvement. Based on the research Denise conducted on communicating with men about preventive care, she has authored a research article that has been submitted for publication in a major professional men's health journal. CYNTHIA (STRAKEY) WATERS, '99, completed her Master's Degree in Sociology at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2002.  She was married the same year to Longwood alum Mark Waters.  Her thesis was a study on jurisdictional sentencing on adults in Virginia's circuit courts.  Also in 2002 she became employed with the Virginia State Police, Bureau of Crime Investigations, where she is an analyst for their Insurance Fraud Division.  Her email is cwaters@vsp.state.va.us

Ike Tucker, '99, currently serves as the Special Assistant to the Vice President and Director of Special Projects for University Advancement at Virginia Commonwealth University. His major areas of focus are analyses of VCU's $330 million campaign and assisting with top prospect management. In addition to full time work, Ike currently pursues a Master of Education, concentrating in Higher Education Administration. He anticipates graduating in May 2006.
