Jessica Broad received a B.F.A. from the Maryland Institute College of art where she studied ceramics and figure sculpture as well as learning the finer points of being an artist. In 1996 she completed a one- year residency at the Vermont Clay Studio in Montpelier Vermont. After that she developed her own studio in rural Pennsylvania. In 2000 she was accepted into the graduate program at the University of Arizona where she studied ceramics, pursued her interest in ceramic sculpture and discovered a love of printmaking and book arts. She received her M.F.A. in 2003. In September of 2005 Jessica received the one-year Lormina Salter Fellowship at the Baltimore Clayworks. She was featured as an emerging artist in the May 2006 issue of Ceramics Monthly. She received the Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Grant in Visual Arts: Crafts in 2006. She has shown her work at privately owned galleries schools and museums across the country, and works continually with clay her primary passion.
