**ATTENTION ALUMNI**
Each year the CBE Alumni Board honors two outstanding alumni with an award presented during the CBE Alumni Oktoberfest reception.
- The CBE Outstanding Alumni Award recognizes an alumnus who graduated from Longwood more than ten years ago, has enjoyed significant career success, serves his/her local community, and contributes financially or with service to Longwood.
- The CBE Rising Star Alumni Award is presented to a younger alumnus, someone who's graduated within the past ten years, is on the path to career success, is involved in service to the community, and contributes financially or with service to Longwood.
We ask for your help in nominating candidates for our 2012 awards. If you know of deserving College of Business and Economics alumni, please send us your nominations. One way you can reach your board is through our Facebook and LinkedIn pages. Links to these pages are at the bottom right of this page.
Alumni Advisory Board 2011 Award Recipients
Kevin Cox, Chair of the Awards Committee, presents Brent Boone the 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award.
Congratulations to Brent Boone, the 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. Brent graduated in 1991 with a BSBA management degree. He is a CFM, assistant vice president, financial advisor for Merrill Lynch in Annapolis, Maryland. Brent has spoken to several business classes at Longwood. He is currently on the board of directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County and on the board of directors of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Anne Arundel County. He is a founder, and the current board president, of the Friends Foundation which is an Annapolis, MD based non-profit geared toward helping those in need. The Friends Foundation has raised and distributed over $600,000 to the local community in Annapolis.
Kevin Cox, Chair of the Awards Committee, presents Will Winston the 2011 Rising Star Alumni Award.
Congratulations to Will Winston, the 2011 Rising Star Alumni Award recipient. Will graduated in 2004 with a BSBA in marketing. He worked for 5 years as a Senior Account Manager with UPS in Virginia Beach and is currently the president of Doctor Techno-Marketing, Inc. in Richmond, Virginia. Will has taught 4 Longwood classes on "Business Networking" and "Dressing for Success", has been an interviewer for the CBE's "Mock Interviews", and was a sponsor of our semi-annual "Business Etiquette Evening".
The recipients of these awards are nominated by fellow alumni and selected by the Alumni Advisory Board. The Distinguished Alumni Award honors an alumnus who graduated from Longwood's CBE more than 10 years ago, has earned significant career success, contributes to the local community, and gives back to Longwood University. The Rising Star Alumni Award honors a CBE alumnus who graduated from Longwood CBE 10 years ago or less, is on the path to career success, is involved in service to the community, and who gives back to Longwood.
Mission
To assists the College in carrying out its Vision, Mission and Goals. The Board serves as a consultant for the continuous improvement of programs, curriculum, students, faculty and facilities.
Goals
- Assist in the recruitment process of students
- Assist in the development of student internship opportunities and job placements for graduates
- Serve as guest lecturers in classes
- Conduct mock interviews on campus
- Assist in the assessment of programs and activities
- Provide input into the strategic planning process
- Actively support fund-raising efforts of the College
