Alumni Advisory Board 2012 Award Recipients
Each year, the College of Business and Economics’ (CBE) Alumni Advisory Board recognizes two outstanding alumni who exemplify Longwood’s mission of building citizen leaders with the CBE’s Distinguished Alumni and Rising Star Alumni awards. These awards celebrate alumni who demonstrate career success, serve their local communities, and contribute to the CBE either financially or with service.

Matt Paciocco, chair of the Awards Committee, presents Brad Schwartz the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award.
Congratulations to Brad Schwartz, the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. Brad graduated from Longwood in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. In 2009, he was named CEO of Monarch Financial Holdings, which currently maintains more than $1 billion in assets. As CEO, Brad leads Monarch Bank, OBX Bank, Monarch Investments, and Monarch Bank Private Wealth. He also was recently elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. In addition to his many professional responsibilities, Brad serves on the Executive Leadership Council of Junior Achievement of Greater Hampton Roads. He is an active participant on the Board of Directors of The Hampton Roads Partnership and was recently appointed to the Longwood University Board of Visitors.
Matt Paciocco, chair of the Awards Committee, presents Jody Sauls the 2012 Rising Star Alumni Award.
Congratulations to Jody Sauls, the 2012 Rising Star Alumni Award recipient. Jody graduated in 2008, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a concentration in management. After completing a successful internship with Target, Jody was offered a position with that retail giant. He quickly moved up the corporate ladder and now manages the largest Target store in the Richmond, Va. area. In addition to his career success, you will often see Jody on the Longwood campus. He works actively with Longwood students, participating in CBE internship seminars and recruiting for Target during Longwood career fairs. He recently sat on a young alumni panel to discuss the challenges and opportunities of being a college a student with CBE freshmen.
We are extremely proud of all of our CBE Alumni. If you know of a deserving alumnus for next year’s awards, please contact one of your Alumni Advisory Board members.
