At the Longwood University College of Business and Economics, you will receive a world-class education steeped in the mission and values of the college. Our students and faculty passionately believe that business and economics knowledge and skills make the greatest positive differences in society when applied by leaders who understand and embody the privilege and responsibility of caring and ethical citizenship. We believe—we live—a philosophy that, while in business we must profit financially to survive, it’s the non-financial profits that allow us to really flourish in business, and in life. We take great pride that our students graduate with a keen sense of their responsibilities in business and their responsibility to society.

At the College of Business and Economics (CBE) you can choose among several concentrations: management, marketing, finance, economics, information systems and cyber security, accounting, and real estate. There are five centers in the CBE that add to the richness of your educational experience.

  • The Center for Cyber Security provides the opportunity for you to become a sophisticated digital citizen, to learn to create secure digital environments for organizations—and for yourself.
  • The Center for Financial Responsibility, founded after the 2008 financial crisis, is dedicated to the delivery of curricula focused on financial literacy at all levels.
  • The Logistics Center is focused on supply chain management and the techniques and skills required to efficiently distribute goods around the globe.
  • The McGaughy Internship & Professional Development Center serves students in several vital roles. Students in the College of Business and Economics are required to have an internship experience prior to graduation and The McGaughy Center manages the internship process for them. In addition, the McGaughy Center serves students through professional development activities such as business dinner etiquette and protocol, resume writing and refinement, interview skills and job search assistance, and a gold clinic.
  • The SNVC Leadership Institute delivers courses based upon the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven R. Covey. The 7 Habits have been used by tens of thousands of people to improve their personal and professional productivity and relationships. Training in the 7 Habits is available to all students at Longwood University.

We also offer several minors and an online Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree for students who may be majoring is something other than business.

If you are searching for an education where business and the liberal arts co-exist, where the classroom is augmented by real-world, experiential, high-impact learning opportunities, the College of Business and Economics may be the place for you.
