The Longwood University Counseling And Psychological Services (CAPS) is pleased to offer formal, comprehensive testing for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Specific Learning Disorders.

Testing is provided by Licensed Clinical Psychologists and supervised CAPS providers. This team coordinates with various services across campus, such as the Office of Disability Resources, as appropriate and only with the signed consent of the student.

Testing typically involves more than one appointment and a flat rate fee for service. This fee is substantially lower than found with community providers. While CAPS is unable to take insurance at this time, we would be happy to help fill out reimbursement paperwork.

The testing package necessary will be determined by meeting with the Testing Coordinator and filling out a questionnaire regarding attentional habits, academic performance, and family history.

What do the tests include?

The testing battery will include most or all of the following:

  • A thorough interview
  • Completion of questionnaires
  • Review of outside information
    • Report cards
    • Academic transcripts
    • Previous IEPs or tests
    • Questionnaires completed by family or close friends
  • Standardized one-on-one testing

After you complete this process, we will provide you with a comprehensive report, in-depth feedback and recommendations.
