Social Work

Longwood's Social Work program prepares majors for first-level professional social work practice as practitioners utilizing the generalist perspective base, as well as receiving accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education.  Social workers deal with personal and social problems in the society in which they live.  Majors learn to formulate, implement, and evaluate policies and programs in relation to people's emotional, health, and economic needs.  Majors work with people who live through specific risks to their well-being due to the lack of personal, social, and institutional resources.
