Department of Natural Sciences David
W. Buckalew, Chair The
Department offers majors in biology, chemistry, and physics; minors are
available in biology, chemistry, earth science, environmental studies,
geography, and
physics. A student may major or minor in more than one area with the
appropriate selection of courses. The Department also offers degrees in
cooperation with other institutions in dual-degree engineering;
pre-professional medical programs prepare students to transfer to
professional schools in a number of health-oriented professions. The
Department of Natural Sciences offers courses which satisfy the science
requirements for general education in all degree programs of the
College. ASSESSMENT: The Department of Natural Sciences requires senior majors to take a comprehensive achievement test appropriate for their major. The purpose of the test is to assess the progress of the majors and the effectiveness of the program. This test is given only in the spring semester. BIOLOGY
