Advising

Students will be assigned an academic advisor upon entry into the program. Students and their advisors will use the Course of Study form (Word Format) upon entry into the program to plan when the students will take each course, complete their clinical experiences, and meet all other requirements necessary for ASHA Certification, licensure from the Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, and licensure from the Virginia Board of Education.

Students will meet with their advisors at least once a semester to review their progress in meeting all necessary academic and clinical requirements. Both the students’ and the advisors’ copies of the Course of Study will be updated. The student and his/her advisor will review the student’s progress toward meeting the ASHA certification standards. This regular advising will enable both the students and their advisors to identify whether there is a need to adjust the plan developed upon enrollment in the program.
