Social Work
Program
Student Activities/Traditions
The students in the Social Work program enjoy diverse
field trips to enhance their learning experience. Some of these are
programmatic and some are through direct classroom experiential
learning.
Annually, in the fall, students travel to
Massanutten to participate in Rally in the Valley, where students from
other Social Work programs join them. For the first year, students will
travel to Washington, DC to Capital Hill to attend a policy conference
in the fall of the year and to southern California to conduct research
during spring break.
Social Work faculty have extensive experience in
the major practice area of research. Longwood’s social work majors will
have access to research endeavors related to social work. Students
participate in an active role with faculty on various research projects.
Social work majors have opportunities in numerous areas, some of which
include:
- Grant Writing
- Research Assistantships
- Qualitative and Quantitative Research
- Program Evaluation
- Field Research Projects
- Book Reviews
- Data Collection
- Research Trips
Social Work students attended the Senior Banquet
for Junior and Senior sendoff into field this month.
