Registration is now open for the 14th Annual Longwood University Summer Literacy Institute: Curiosity Ignites Literacy, July 20-21, 2017.  Sponsored by the Reading, Literacy, & Learning Program and the School Librarianship Program of the College of Education and Human Services, the Institute includes fantastic professional development, award-winning authors, breakout  sessions that address both elementary and secondary literacy topics, and the opportunity to share best practice with fellow classroom teachers, literacy coaches, reading specialists, and school librarians!

 

The Institute registration fee of $210.00 includes: 

  • Friday workshop with award-winning author Candace Fleming (The Family  Romanov: Murder, Rebellion, and The Fall of Imperial Russia; The Lincolns; Boxes for Katje; Muncha! Muncha! Muncha!; and many others) and award-winning  illustrator Eric Rohmann (My Friend Rabbit; Time Flies; The Cinder-Eyed Cats; Clara and Asha; Bone Dog; A Kitten Tale; and many others)
  • Thursday author presentations by Hannah Barnaby, Madelyn Rosenberg, Ronnie Sidney II,  and Sarah Sullivan
  • Four 60-minute breakout sessions including sessions with the authors
  • Online access to session handouts through Greenwood Library's Digital Commons
  • Continental breakfast and lunch buffet on both days.  Early Bird registrants (deadline July 1) receive a FREE ticket to the Thursday evening Banquet at which Candace and Eric will discuss their collaborative works including Bulldozer's Big Day, Oh No!, and Giant Squid.
