Alpha Delta Mu
(Social Work)
Alpha Delta Mu is a national Social Work
honor society. The purpose is to advance excellence in Social Work
practice and to encourage, stimulate, and maintain scholarship of the
individual member in all fields, particularly Social Work.
Alpha Delta Mu was reactivated in May 2003. Students are eligible to
apply at the Junior level with a major 3.25 GPA and a cumulative 3.00
GPA .
Chi Sigma Iota (Counseling)
Chi Sigma Iota is the international society for students, professional
counselors and counselor educators established at Ohio University in
1985. Our mission is to promote scholarship, research, professionalism,
leadership and excellence in counseling, and to recognize high
attainment in the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence in the
profession of counseling.
Phi Kappa Phi
The Society's
mission is "to recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields
of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service
to others."
The motto of Phi Kappa Phi is
Philosophía Krateítõ Phõtôn, translated "Let the love of learning rule humanity”.
Those elected to membership include upper 7.5% last-term juniors (having
completed at least 72 semester hours) and upper 10% seniors, along with
outstanding graduate students, faculty, professional staff, and alumni.
Since its founding, more than 1,000,000 scholars have been inducted into
Phi Kappa Phi.
Phi Delta Kappa (Professional Educators)
Phi Delta Kappa is an international association for professional
educators. The organization's mission is to promote quality education as
essential to the development and maintenance of a democratic way of life
by providing innovative programs, relevant research, visionary
leadership, and dedicated service.
Kappa Delta Pi (Education Honor Society)
Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, is dedicated
to scholarship and excellence in education. The Society is a community
of scholars dedicated to worthy ideals:
• Recognizes scholarship and excellence in education;
• Promotes the development and dissemination of worthy educational ideas
and practices;
• Enhances the continuous growth and leadership of its diverse
membership;
• Fosters inquiry and reflection on significant educational issues; and
• Maintains a high degree of professional fellowship.
Phi Epsilon Kappa
(health, physical education, recreation, or safety fraternity)
Phi Epsilon Kappa Fraternity is a national professional fraternity for
persons engaged in or pursuing careers in health, physical education,
recreation, or safety. Membership is open to persons interested in the
purposes of the Fraternity and in providing time and energy for the
benefit of the areas which include: physical education, health,
recreation, dance, human performance, exercise science, sports medicine
and sports management. Existing collegiate and alumni chapters invite
individuals to become members. Petitions are available for new
collegiate and alumni chapters
