Accessibility Parking 

The Office of Disability Resources will work with students, faculty, staff and visitors to provide reasonable accommodations for all ceremonies.

If accommodations for additional events are needed please reach out to the event planner and they will consult with Disability Resources.

Accommodations

Undergraduate Ceremony

Parking
Due to a limited amount of designated accessible parking availability will be on a first come, first served basis and documentation is required.

Accepted documentation: 

      • Letter from an appropriate medical provider
      • Copy of a permanent Virginia or other state-issued disability vehicle placard
      • Copy of a temporary Virginia or other state-issued disability vehicle placard

If your vehicle requires special arrangements (i.e. vehicle lift) please contact Disability Resources at (434) 395- 2391. 

Drop Off Area
The front of Jarman Auditorium (High St.) has been designated as an approved drop-off area.

Shuttle Information
Shuttle information will also be available via the main commencement website.

Seating
Longwood University has set aside specialized seating for individuals with a documented need. The seating request must be made no later than one week prior to the ceremony.

The specialized seating area will open at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the ceremony.

Per ADA guidelines each individual requiring an accommodation will be able to request an additional companion seat. Documentation must be provided in order to secure the request.

(Special Note for Visitors: Please remember that accessible seating is made available to assist individuals with easy access to the restroom facilities, parking area and Disability Resources staff. IT DOES NOT GUARANTEE CLOSE ACCESS TO THE STAGE)

Interpreting Services
We will offer ASL interpreting services via Sign Language Interpreters (Richmond, VA) and proximity seating for individuals with hearing impairments as needed.
