Undergraduate Scholarship in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Students in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science have many opportunities to engage in undergraduate scholarship and research. For instance, all Longwood students are required to complete an internship in their program of study. Students may meet their internship requirement under the guidance of a faculty member, as an intern in industry, or in the case of students who are getting certified to teach, via their student teaching. Some of our students also opt for a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program to fulfill their internship requirement. In addition to the internship, faculty in the department are willing to work with students to create "honors enhancements" to their courses as well as engage in directed studies or joint research with students. If you are interested in pursuing an internship, directed study, or research opportunity with a faculty member then please feel free to contact them! |
