
When will the new Student Recreation Center open?
We are hoping to open the Center sometime during the Spring 2007 semester.
Who will be allowed to use the new facility?
Students, faculty and staff of Longwood University, their dependants and guests will be allowed to use the new recreational facility.
What construction projects are taking place at this time besides the Student Recreation Center?
Wheeler Residence Hall, Willett Gymnasium and the Softball Field are presently undergoing renovation. Also construction continues on new Athletic Fields on Longwood Avenue.
In addition to Wheeler, which other residence halls are scheduled for renovation?
North, Main and South Cunningham, Stubbs, and Cox are all scheduled for renovation over the next few years.
Where will students reside as residence halls are closed for remodeling?
With the acquisition of Lancer Village and the construction of The Landings, there is adequate space to cover the rotated closure of the residence halls.
What exciting construction projects are on the horizon?
A new theatre building will be constructed connecting the Wygal and Bedford buildings. It will be a self-contained Communications Studies and Theatre educational center complete with dressing rooms, a rehearsal studio, box office, scene shop, costume shop, classrooms, and faculty offices.
Also on the horizon is the renovation of the first floor of Blackwell (the old dining hall). It will be transformed into a contemporary book store, coffee shop and convenience store.
