What other construction will take place during this time?
Longwood will also rebuild the Ruffner complex and Grainger Hall, structures destroyed in the great fire of 2001. In addition, the construction of Brock Commons will begin with Phase 1, the area near the Library.
What will be constructed in Phase 1?
Phase 1 will close Redford Street. In addition, Pine Street will be closed from Madison to Franklin Streets. A new underground parking garage will be located in this intersection. Above the garage, Brock Commons will contain green spaces as well as pedestrian walkways.
When will Phase 1 begin?
Phase one will begin after graduation. The construction site will be contained and sewer lines and a storm water line will be rerouted. In addition, telephone lines, cable for television, and the Longwood network cables in this area will be rerouted.
When will construction begin on Grainger and the Ruffners?
Grainger Construction has already begun. (see link) Ruffner construction is slated to begin late fall '02.
When will construction begin on the new science building?
Construction is slated to start in early
Spring 2003.
