
The Flagship building of Longwood, Ruffner Hall with its beautiful Rotunda was destroyed by fire during renovation April 24th 2001. It has been rebuilt in its former splendor with many amenities, and the latest technology. The classic artwork in the interior of the Rotunda dome has been cleaned and restored. The addition of a skylight (previously covered) brings new light to the Rotunda's interior. The Ruffner Re-dedication Website is available here.

The Heating Plant is located at the site of the large smoke stack on campus. The plant provides much of the steam and heating needs for the campus. Newer, more efficient equipment will be added.

The LCVA is the art museum for Longwood University and South Central Virginia. Since 1994 the LCVA has been located on the corner of Third and Main Streets in downtown Farmville (the former home to a Roses Department Store). Most of the operating systems were original to the 1969 structure. During 2002 the LCVA raised funds to support phase I renovation from a variety of constituents. In 2003 Glavé and Holmes developed a facilities master plan.

Brock Commons has become the central focal point for Longwood and unites the campus community around a safe, pedestrian-friendly environment. The plan provides for full accessibility of all the campus building for all users, while creating an outdoor, collegial ambiance for the entire campus community.
