Welcome to Longwood University's Men Wellness Page
The purpose of this website is to help Longwood men be academically and personally successful.

You came to Longwood to become an educated person. Education changes people. Hopefully, you will shape your life in ways that will enable you to become more successful, fulfilled, and healthy. Will take full advantage of the opportunities at Longwood that will help you to be able to work, love, play, hope, laugh, and adopt a sustaining purpose for your life? You are responsible and in control of what happens to you by the choices you make. This website is designed to give you information for making informed and reflective decisions. We don't want to tell how to live your life or how to be a man. We want you to "pay attention" to your life and to become a man that is authentic and real.

A wellness philosophy provides the structure for this site. In "College: The Undergraduate Experiences in America" by Ernest Boyer (1987) in note, "we urge that all students be helped to understand that wellness is a prerequisite to all else" (page 186). Longwood has adopted this concept as a guiding principle in creating an environment that promotes personal responsiblity. Optimal wellness is essental to students' education, development, and personal and academic success. Emphasis is on the development of the whole person. The following wellness dimensions are addressed: intellectual, spiritual, emotional, physical, career, and social, in addition, there is an opportunity for you to give us feedback on your Longwood experience. Also there is a "forum" that will stimulate a dialogue about issues improtant to men. We hope that you enjoy and benefit from this website.
