Welcome to Longwood Universities

Men's Wellness Page

Our Purpose:

The purpose of the Longwood’s Men’s Wellness web-site is to assist the men of Longwood in growing academically, personally, and professionally.

It’s no secret that education at the collegiate level changes our lives’ in many ways. While you are taking part in this experience some questions might arise along the way pertaining to many different aspects of your life. This is a commonality among students throughout their academic careers (and even further into life). Unfortunately, there are no “clear cut” answers in life, which can pose a very difficult dilemma of finding our own path in life. However, there are helpful resources available that can help us obtain our own answers to life. This site will provide you with information to help you as you reflect on life’s choices and decisions that will shape who you are as an individual.

Our Philosophy:

A general sense of wellness is the driving philosophy of this web-site In "College: The Undergraduate Experiences in America" by Ernest Boyer (1987) in note, "we urge that all students be helped to understand that wellness is a prerequisite to all else" (page 186). Longwood has adopted this concept as a guiding principle in creating an environment that promotes personal wellness while emphasizing personal responsibility. Overall wellness is essential to each student to optimize education, development, and personal & academic success. Emphasis is on the development of the “whole” person. The following wellness dimensions are addressed: Intellectual wellness, Spiritual wellness, Emotional wellness, Physical wellness, Career wellness, and Social wellness. Also, there is a "forum" section available that will give students opportunities to ask questions and discuss issues that are important to men.
