In this workshop, we will examine the process of implementing class blogging assignments using the Longwood blogs WordPress platform. This workshop will focus on building the technical understandings and the pedagogical processes involved with blogging, including how to structure assignments and assess student work.

Join the Maker Movement: 3D Printing and Design
Help your students bring their imaginations to life using 3D printing. This workshop will examine cases in which this technology has been used to meet educational outcomes and provide an overview of the hardware and software used in 3D printing and design. We will use any remaining time to brainstorm possible uses of this technology within general education and major courses.

Let Them Be Heard: Podcasting in the Classroom
Provide students with an alternative method of writing and researching for an authentic audience. This workshop will introduce some of the most common applications used for creating podcasts, including Audacity and GarageBand. This workshop assumes no prior experience with podcasting or audio editing and should be attended by anyone interested in podcasting for teaching or scholarship.

Crafting Picture Perfect Content: Canvas and Visual Design
In this workshop, we will implement some techniques to create visually appealing and user friendly Canvas courses. We will craft interactive home pages and examine the user experience to determine the best ways to present information and organize content. Bring a flash drive and download a set of royalty free images for your content area from the DEC’s subscription to Shutterstock.
