Let Them Be Heard: Podcasting in the Classroom

Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor

In this workshop, we will learn about two tools that can be paired with Canvas to ensure the integrity of online and class-based electronic testing. Respondus LockDown Browser is a separate web browser that locks down a student's computer when they take any assessment that requires the technology. Respondus Monitor is an add-on technology to the LockDown Browser that verifies the student’s identity and records the testing environment. In this workshop, you will get hands-on experience using these tools and learn some best practices in implementing the tools to minimize student test anxiety.

Crafting Picture Perfect Content: Canvas and Visual Design

In this workshop, we will implement some techniques to create visually appealing and user-friendly Canvas courses. We will craft interactive home pages and examine the user experience to determine the best ways to present information and organize content. Bring a flash drive and download a set of royalty-free images for your content area from the DEC’s image library. This workshop addresses Quality Matters standards 6 and 8 and is ideal for anyone preparing for or revising based on a review.

Advanced Canvas

In this workshop, we will take a look at some advanced tools in Canvas that can help you create a more effective learning environment. We will go over things like course analytics, quiz statistics, assignment rules, module pre-requisites, and a few other things that intermediate to advanced users would find helpful. This is not an overview of Canvas, so this workshop is most appropriate for users with some experience teaching with Canvas, although everyone is welcome.
